History

Some sources say that skiing dates back to almost 2000 BC, however this skiing is very unlike what we think of as skiing, the skis were made with animal hide. Sondre Norheim is called the father of modern skiing. It is said that in 1870 Norheim created the first ski that was flexible and allowed one to turn in the snow. Skis have been used throughout history for many different purposes, including use by the military. As time has gone on skiing has been seen as a status symbol, with an increase in ski ticket prices and ski equipment. Although there have been many changes, skiing has remained a great American past-time.
